ου, Δίωνος, ἔδοξε τᾶι πόλει τῶν Δελφῶν ἐν ἀγορᾶι τελείωι σὺμ ψάφοις ταῖς
ἐννόμοις· ἐπειδὴ Νίκων Νικία Μεγαλοπολίτας τραγωιδὸς καὶ πρότερον μὲν
εὔνους ὢν διετέλει τᾶι πόλει καὶ ἐνδαμήσας δὲ ἀξιωθεὶς ἐπέδωκε τῶι θε-
5 ῶι ἁμέραν καὶ ἀγωνίξατο καὶ εὐδοκίμησε, ἐπαινέσαι Νίκωνα Νικία Μεγαλο-
πολίταν καὶ ὑπάρχειν αὐτῶι καὶ ἐγγόνοις παρὰ τᾶς πόλιος προξενίαν, προμα[ν]-
τείαν, ἀσυλίαν, προεδρίαν ἐμ πᾶσι τοῖς ἀγώνοις οὓς ἁ πόλις τίθητι, καὶ τὰ ἄλλα
τίμια πάντα ὅσα καὶ τοῖς ἄλλοις προξένοις καὶ εὐεργέταις ὑπάρχει παρὰ τᾶς πόλιος,
καλέσαι δὲ αὐτὸν καὶ τοὺς μετ’ αὐτοῦ τοὺς ἄρχοντας καὶ ἐν τὸ πρυτανεῖον.
Translations (en):
“In the year of the archon Pyrros, Athambos, Archelaos, Dion were bouletai for the first semester. It was resolved by the city of Delphi, in full assembly, with legitimate vote: since Nikon of Megalopolis, the son of Nikias, τραγωιδός, keeps showing good disposition towards the city, and having dwelt in the city and proven himself worthy, he offered the god one more day and participated to the ἀγών and obtained good success, (it has been resolved) to praise Nikon of Megalopolis, son of Nikias and he and his descendants shall be granted with proxeny in the city, the priority in access to the oracle, immunity for his possessions, privileged seating at the festivals and all the further rewards which are bestowed on other proxenoi and benefactors of the city. The archons shall invite him and the others with him in the Prytaneion”.

“Sotto l’arcontato di Pyrros, essendo buleuti del primo semestre Athambos, Archelaos, Dion, sembrò bene alla città di Delfi, in assemblea perfetta, con voto legittimo: poiché Nikon di Megalopoli figlio di Nikias, τραγωιδός, continua prima di tutto a essere ben disposto verso la città e, avendo soggiornato ed essendone stato degno, concesse al dio un giorno, diede prova di sé e ottenne buon successo, si lodi Nikon di Megalopoli figlio di Nikias e siano riconosciuti a lui e ai suoi discendenti da parte della città la prossenia, il diritto di precedenza nella consultazione dell’oracolo, l’immunità per i propri beni, la proedria in tutti gli agoni che la città bandisce e tutti gli altri onori quanti appartengono da parte della città anche agli altri prosseni ed evergeti. Gli arconti invitino lui e quelli con lui nel Pritaneo.”
Commentary (en):
In this decree the city of Delphi rewarded the τραγωιδός Nikon, came from Megalopolis with proxeny and related privileges. This artist showed off in performances recognized as conventions in between agones and epideixeis. The name of Nikon is attested one more time in Delphi, in a catalogue of the proxenoi (Syll3 585, prox nr. 128).
Commentary (it):
Con questo decreto la città di Delfi concesse la prossenia e i privilegi ad essa connessi a Nikon, figlio di Nikias, τραγωιδός giunto da Megalopoli. L’artista si distinse nelle conventions deifiche da intendersi come eventi compresi tra la natura agonistica e quella dimostrativa. Il nome di Nikon è attestato a Delfi un’altra volta, in un catalogo di prosseni della città.
