ἔδοξε τᾶι πόλει̣ τῶν Δελφῶν [ἐν] ἀγορᾶι τελείαι σὺμ ψάφοις ταῖς ἐννόμοις·
ἐπειδή Ἀριστόθεος Ν̣ικ̣οθέου [Τρο]ζάνιος ἱστοριαγράφος παραγενόμενος [ἐ]ν τὰν
πόλιν τὰν τε ἀναστροφὰν ἐπ[οιή]σατο ἀξίως τοῦ τε ἱεροῦ καὶ τᾶς ἰδίας πατρίδος,
5 ἐποιήσατο δὲ καὶ ἀκροάσεις ἐπ[ὶ π]λείονας ἁμέρας τῶν πεπραγματευμένων
αὐτῶι, παρανέγνω [δὲ καὶ] ἐν̣[κώ]μια εἰς Ῥωμαίους τοὺς κοινοὺς τῶν Ἑλλάνων̣
εὐεργέτας, δεδόσθαι παρὰ τᾶ[ς] πόλιος προξενίαν αὐτῶι καὶ ἐκγόνοις, προμαντεί[αν],
προδικίαν, ἀσυλίαν, ἀτέλειαν [πά]ντων, προεδρίαν ἐμ πᾶσι τοῖς ἀγώνοις οἷ[ς] ἁ πόλι[ς τί]-
θητι καὶ τἆλλα τίμια ὅσα κ̣αὶ το[ῖς ἄ]λλοις προξένοις καὶ εὐεργέταις [ὑ]πάρ[χ]ει τᾶς πόλιος.

“Good fortune. It was resolved by the city of Delphi, in full assembly, with legitimate vote: since Aristotheos from Troezen, the son of Nikotheos, historiographer, dwelling in our city, conducted his stay in a way worthy of the sanctuary and of his own homeland, and held auditions of his works for several days and delivered public lectures praising the Romans, the common benefactors of the Greeks, the proxeny is bestowed by the city on him and his descendants, along with the right of priority in access to the oracle and court, immunity for his possessions, exemption from all taxes, privileged seating at the festivals that the city holds and all the other privileges that belong to the other proxenoi and benefactors of the city.”

Sembrò bene alla città di Delfi in assemblea perfetta, con voto legittimo: poiché Aristotheos di Trezene, figlio di Nikotheos, storiografo, trovandosi in città, condusse il soggiorno in modo degno del santuario e della propria patria, e tenne anche delle pubbliche esposizioni per molti giorni delle opere da lui composte e diede pubblica lettura degli encomi sui Romani, comuni benefattori degli Elleni, è concessa da parte della città la prossenia per lui e per i suoi discendenti, la precedenza nella consultazione dell’oracolo e in giudizio, l’immunità per i propri averi, l’esenzione dal pagamento da tutte le tasse, la proedria in tutti gli agoni che la città organizza e tutti gli altri onori quanti appartengono agli altri prosseni ed evergeti della città.”

The city of Delphi honored the historiographer Aristotheos from Trezene for entertaining the city of Delphi with public readings (ἀκροάσεις – ἀναγνώσεις) of his literary works in which he presented his works on historical topics and the encomia praising the Romans as saviors and benefactors of the whole Greece.

La città di Delfi ha onorato lo storico Aristotheos di Trezene con i privilegi consueti per aver soggiornato degnamente e condiviso con l’uditorio della città sacra i suoi prodotti artistici. Egli tenne per molti giorni delle ἀκροάσεις in cui espose le sue opere di argomento storico e delle ἀναγνώσεις degli encomi composti sui Romani, descritti come salvatori e benefattori dei Greci.
