B – “Sembrò bene al consiglio e all’assemblea: parere del tale e dei colleghi. Poiché [—]mon figlio di Nikon di Delo, κιθαρωιδός, essendo un uomo virtuoso e, essendogli stato chiesto di competere, ha gareggiato con onore e zelo, è stato incoronato dal popolo con una corona d’oro ed è stato onorato … maggiori (onori), affinché … alla città … è sembrato bene di lodare [—]mon figlio di Nikon di Delo per la virtù e la benevolenza che continua a serbare …”

B- “It was resolved by the council and the assembly: (…) since [—]mon, the son of Nikon of Delos, κιθαρωιδός, a virtous man, being asked to compete()?), performed with honour and zeal, he has been crowned by the people with a golden crown and he has been honored… greater (honors), so that … by the city … resolved to praise [—]mon, the son of Nikon, of Delos for his virtue and benevolence which he keeps showing…”
Commentary (it):
Il decreto per il κιθαρωιδός Nikon è un documento rappresentativo in quanto registra l’attività di un artista originario di Delo e la possibile partecipazione a performances comprese tra dimostrazioni e competizioni. In pochi altri casi infatti si registra la presenza di artisti delii e l’attività di Nikon presso Sifno potrebbe attestare anche nelle Cicladi l’organizzazione delle conventions documentate anche a Delfi.
Commentary (en):
The decree for the κιθαρωιδός Nikon is a representative document, as it attests to the activity of a Delian artist and the possible particicipation to the conventions in between demonstrations and competitions. In few other cases the presence of Delian artists is documented and the activity of Nikon at Siphnos may show also in the Cyclades the organization of the same events attested in Delphi.
