γέγονεν εἰς τὸν λιμένα κωμ[ωι]-
δὸς Νικοφῶν Αἰνίου Μιλήσιος καὶ
ἐπαγγέλλεται ἀγωνιεῖσθαι
5 τῶι θεῶι ἡμέρας τρεῖς δράμα-
τα τρία , δεδόχθαι τῆι βουλῆι καὶ
τῶι δήμωι, στεφανῶσαι Νικοφῶν-
τα Αἰνίου Μιλήσιον χρυσῶι στε-
φάνωι ἀπὸ δραχμῶν ἑκατόν·
10 [εἶ]ναι δὲ αὐτὸν καὶ πρόξενον
[κα]ὶ εὐεργέτην τοῦ δήμου τοῦ
[Σ]αμίων τοῦ κατοικοῦντος ἐν
[Μ]ινώηι καθὰ καὶ οἱ λοιποὶ εὐερ-
γέται· ἀναγράψαι δὲ τόδε τὸ
15 ψήφισμα εἰς τὸ ἱερὸν τοῦ Ἀπό[λ]-
λωνος τοῦ Δηλίου· τῆς δὲ ἀνα-
γραφῆς ἐπιμεληθῆναι τοὺς νε-
ωποίας τοὺς περὶ Αἰ[ν]ησίλεω[ν].

“Giudizio dei pritani: poiché il κωμωιδός Nikophon di Mileto, figlio di Ainios, è sbarcato al nostro porto e offre di gareggiare(?) per il dio con tre drammi per tre giorni, è sembrato bene al consiglio e all’assemblea di incoronare Nikophon di Mileto, figlio di Ainios con una corona d’oro da cento dracme, che egli sia prosseno ed evergete del popolo dei Sami che risiedono a Minoa al modo degli altri evergeti. Si faccia incidere questo decreto presso il santuario di Apollo Delio. Dell’incisione si occupino i neopoioi intorno ad Ainesiles.”
Translations (en):
“The prytanes proposed: since the κωμωιδός Nikophon of Miletos, the son of Ainios, came by our harbor and promised to compete for the god with three dramas for three days, it was resolved by the council and the assembly to crown Nikophon of Miletos, the son of Ainios, with a golden crown worth a hundred drachmas, to elect him proxenos and benefactor of the people of Samos who live in Minoa, in the same way of the other benefactors. This decree shall be shown at the sanctuary of Apollo Delios. The neopoioi referring to Ainesiles shall take care of the inscription.”
Commentary (it):
Questo κωμωιδός da Mileto fu eletto prosseno ed evergete dei Sami presso Minoa di Amorgo in virtù delle abilità interpretative dimostrate nel corso di tre giorni e con l’esibizione di tre pezzi di repertorio. Si potrebbero riferire le esibizioni di Nikophon a una manifestazione agonistico-festiva oppure agli eventi compresi tra dimostrazioni e competizioni variamente attestati a Delfi e probabilmente anche a Sifno.
Commentary (en):
The Milesian κωμωιδός Nikophon was elected proxenos and benefactor of the people of Samos in Minoa, a city of Amorgos, for his skills as a performer, which he showed during three days and with three pieces. Nikophon’s performances could be referred to a proper contest held in Amorgos or to the demonstrations with spirit of competition attested in Delphi and probably also in Siphnos.
