Discover M. Zoie Lafis’ Art Process

Deeply inspired by myth, symbols, and history of Ancient Greece, Zoie has developed a visual language to communicate across time and cultures. Using bold and warm colors reminiscent of the Mediterranean landscape, Zoie’s paintings are a celebration of life, creativity, and mindfulness. Zoie passed through visual experimentations reflecting life phases and experiences. Sparking from a collision between classical and contemporary figures, the humanity and realism of her models focus on notions of the importance of self-reflection and find beauty in everyday tasks. A brick-built wall is the allegory of unfolding the discovery of truth, of visions, of impressions. Artfully obscuring her figures into the surrounding environment to create an evocation, the nuances and blurs lead towards a powerful spin of visual poetry. In her Athena and the owl theme, Zoie uses imagery and iconography from ancient art history to transport the viewer into a deeply meditative and sensory world. The process of fusion between the elements of flora and fauna explore the concept of excavation and unearthing. The magnetic abstract paintings convey rich personal symbolism and seasons of nature and life representing the evolution of emotional effects from colors to actual words.

For the Poeti Vaganti project, Zoie’s work embeds the twofold process of acknowledging and creation. Deeply getting into the core of the poeti vaganti phenomenon, the products realised for the hero image and the logo reflect the artist’s capacity to enter the idea and bring it to an intimate evolution. Digital experimentations on the concept have been pursued in collaboration with Allie Marbry. Focusing on the action of walking, the footsteps’ paths hint at stories of artistic endeavors and journeys. The “ptanois posin” of men, women, and artists at a juvenile age traverse space and time towards unlimited experiences of skills and life enrichment. The kinetic elements allude to the act of making new paths while facing the unknown.”
